I have decided that if IndyCar is to pursue a path that continues to erode the luster of the Indianapolis 500, it will not happen as I sit silently on the sidelines. Thus, this site. I have attended the Indianapolis 500 since 1998, and have no qualifications in the matter beyond this and my powers of examination and analysis.
In my letter, though, I do not think I am making a novel argument. I think many share the viewpoint expressed. However, I have never seen it written down in broad terms as I have tried to do here.
Much of my understanding of the current state of IndyCar has come from the incredibly insightful thinking on display here – it is the quality of thought that I hope those in power can produce as they take the next step in defining IndyCar for the future.
